A Celebration of Chanukah – The Feast of Dedication

LIVING WORSHIP IN A LIVING TEMPLE

The First Night of Chanukah – A New Way to Kindle the Chanukah Lights

Before you begin: 1 Corinthians 6.19-20 reminds all who believe in Messiah Yeshua that a great miracle has happened in them. Faith in the Lord Jesus has made them living temples—temples alive with the Holy Spirit: “…Do you not know that your body is the temple of Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s!”

Dedicate Your Mind: This is the part of your living temple which stores up knowledge. In this age of information, all the knowledge available to you is not always good for you. What kind of knowledge are you storing up in the mind your Lord has sanctified for His glory?

The Shepherd’s Voice:

  • Deuteronomy 6.5; 8.18
  • Romans 12.2
  • Philippians 4.8

Say a New Blessing: “Blessed are You, O LORD, our God, King of the universe! Whose thoughts are higher than my thoughts and by whose perfect reasonings with me has brought me to bow before You. Who gave me a mind to learn what I need to know to prosper on the earth: I dedicate my mind to You, Lord. Cleanse all the things I have stored in it that are foolish, vain, and unclean. Fill it with the knowledge of You. In the Name of Yeshua the Messiah, my Lord and my Light. Amen.”

As oil was the precious fuel that kept the Light of Israel burning in the darkness, may the time you spend in the Word of God this season fill you to overflowing with His Oil of Joy to keep your lamp burning brightly in the darkness. And as you give your mind and heart to the Voice of Your Great Shepherd in His Word, may this precious celebration of Yeshua, the Light of the world kindle in your life a newfound fire of dedication to your Great Shepherd.

TU B’SHEVAT – A NEW YEAR FOR TREES…

…A Morning Walk in February

Strolling along in our little “shire” of a neighborhood where some, like me, live half burrowed into the side of a hill, like semi-hobbits. I love the clear mornings in late winter, cool, fresh air to waken my hibernating soul out of winter’s retreat…

I strolled this morning under a lacey canopy of white clouds against the blue of heaven above me. As I walked, I scanned the tree tops, dark filigreed against the arch of the winter sky. All the branches are pregnant with the smooth grey placentas of new life gestating in their tiny little wombs…

Hope…

Promise…

Waiting…

Praising God for all His mercies, new every morning in this walk in the wilderness…
