from glory to glory…

Morning Glory…

morning-skies

Throwback Thursday…The Word of God taking me back to remember who God is and the glory He has shared with my forebears in The Faith…A trail of glory in the time travel through the pages of history…

For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage…Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments…

–Deuteronomy 7.6-9

This holy God has drawn near and chosen a people out of all the nations of the earth to be witnesses on this fallen planet of His holiness and majesty and glory…And in His mercy, this Holy God declares that He judges the unrepentant workers of rebellion against His revealed greatness… I find this glorious, because if there is no righteousness, there can be no righteous judgment, then there is no justice; and do I need to spell out the implications of that in times like these? But here is pure, holy righteousness in judgment…righteousness not of man’s contemplations, but from the very being of this holy God…

…And He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face…For evildoers shall be cut off…The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth. The LORD laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct…To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work…Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken…For the arms of the wicked shall be broken…

–Deuteronomy 7.10; Psalm 37.9,12-14; Titus 1.15-16,17; Psalm 37.15,17

In this moment of eternity, as I walk about my little condo doing the odd task each day, I remember that God has walked on this earth, and in my soul I can see Him as John described Him…

John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, “After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.” I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water…I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, “Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God’…”

–John 1.29-34

…The Son of God was there in the moment of eternity when the gods of Egypt were judged, and the people who were chosen to know this holy God were delivered by the outstretched arm of God…And Who is this who executes righteous judgment? Who is the “Mighty Outstretched Arm, the Right Arm of the LORD?” It is Jesus, in the appointed moment of eternity, whose arms were outstretched on a Roman cross to bear in His righteous body the judgment due us for our rebellion against this holy God…When He returns in the next moment of eternity, He will be coming to bring about the righteous judgment of this holy God…

For such a time as this–in my moment of eternity, I read the counsel of my forebears, who carried the glimpses of God’s glory around in their dusty vessels…to become clothed further in trust and delight and rest in the holy God who has chosen me from among my people to know Him and to be known by Him in the Lord Jesus…

Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and…Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall…bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.  Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm.

 –Psalm 37.1-8

And because of the work of the Lord Jesus Christ in my life–the commandments written by the finger of God on my heart–I hear the apostle Paul’s exhortation to Titus, a true son in our common faith…

…according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began…Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

–Titus 1.1-2,4

Blessed are those who walk by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for their dusty vessels are being further clothed with delight and trust and rest in God–for such a time as this…

Pray for those who profess to know God, but whose works deny Him; pray for those who have yet to behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world…who do not yet know the grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior. And…

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem…

For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: ‘This is My resting place forever…I will also clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy…”

…Psalm 132.6
